It’s Business Time

My name’s Kirsten Krauth and I’ve worked as a writer and editor for 15 years. In 1999 I set up a freelance editing and writing business from home: Freckle Features. I also do web content management.

My editing experience has included commissioning editor for the NSW Writers’ Centre magazine, Newswrite, assistant editor at RealTime arts journal, and commissioning editor for their film and digital media section, OnScreen; editorial and web manager at the Australian Film Commission (now Screen Australia); web manager at Sydney Film Festival; assistant editor at Sydney University’s Power Publications where I copyedited two books on visual arts: Asian Modernities – Chinese and Thai Art Compared, 1980 to 1999 and Images of the Pacific Rim – Australia and California, 1850 to 1935; transcript editor for Australian Biography Onlineand copy editor on the recently released book of dynamic emerging Australian writers, Penguin Plays Rough Book of Short Stories.

As a writer I have had over 100 articles published on film, arts, digital media, literature and culture for a range of publications including Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Island Magazine, Peppermint Magazine, RealTime, IF Magazine, Newswrite, Empire, Screen Education and Metro Screen.

I have also written for a number of websites including the AFC/ABC Online documentary about world music, The Pure Drop.

I have a research masters in creative writing from the University of Sydney and my first novel just_a_girl will be published by UWA Publishing in June 2013.
